Festus and His Fun Fest Favorites
This book, which commemorates the 30th year of Fun Fest, was written by local author Leigh Anne W. Hoover, a longtime Kingsport resident, and it is beautifully illustrated by Tyler Bishop of Johnson City. Hoover is also the author of the well-known children’s book The Santa Train Tradition.
Much of the artwork featured throughout the book incorporates images that represent the many years of Fun Fest. In 1996, Festus debuted as the official festival mascot. After just a few short years of popularity, the costume character also became a standard symbol in the artwork and designs.
